Capture more than the damage
Jared recommends photographing where you came from, the point of impact, the vehicles afterward and the people who were there. Together, those images can preserve context that a single close-up of a dent may miss.
Use the pictures as a record
The purpose of the photos is to help document the accident and identify what you may need to discuss later. This clip assumes you are able to remain at the scene; immediate safety and medical needs come first.

Should you take pictures at the scene? One hundred percent. Hopefully, you’re not in an ambulance and those types of things aren’t happening. But if you aren’t and you’re at the scene, go ahead and take as many pictures as you can.
Pictures of where you came from, pictures of where you actually hit the other vehicle or they hit you, pictures of the vehicles after the fact, pictures of the people so you can remember who was there. Take as many pictures as you can. It’s evidence that’s going to help you.
